I’ve been making slow but steady progress on my tapestry weaving. There are some big differences between the 4 harness floor loom weaving and a tapestry. Rather than the continual horizontal “back and forth” of the 4 harness loom that progresses very quickly, I am able to weave in chunks on my tapestry, however it moves along MUCH more slowly. The challenge here is interlocking the various “chunks” smoothly together. In the picture, you can also see the “draft”, or my drawing of the planned design, taped behind the warp threads to help guide my “chunks”. All said, I am finding this weaving very meditative, even though I am constantly problem solving my next stitch.
