So You Want to Draw 101 – Steps for Perspective

Adding perspective to your drawings will greatly improve your drawing skills and the impression of realism in your work. But perspective has rules an artist must follow in order for it to be done correctly.
When an observer looks at an object, he sees it from one point of view, either eye level, above or below his eye level. This way he can see the sides and angles of that object, relative to its environment and giving the image a 3 dimensional appearance.
These rules are very exact, requiring precision and mathematical concepts. This may be the only time in producing artworks that if you don’t follow the steps, your work will be wrong! But worry, if you DO follow the steps, you will render an object in beautiful proportion and perspective.
Here is a quickie handout list of the 6 steps. A video will follow-up shortly to give a more complete demonstration of this skill.
