Finishing my weaving sampler and taking off the loom was nearly as slow and tedious as getting it started. But here is the finished “table runner”. It demonstrates 12 different weaving patterns, and an extra one I made up myself when I was stepping on the wrong treadle. As in dancing, there are no wrong moves, just new dance steps, and new patterns, And in my defense, the Navajo weaving culture believes the weaver must always weave in a MISTAKE, because only our creator is perfect. However, people who wanted to buy these woven works of art were not please with the “mistake”. This made for quite the conundrum for the traditional Navajo weaver. Brace yourself, I am ready to try a weaving of my own design now.
