I’ve just become fascinated by eco dying fabric and the handmade papers we’ve been creating.
Eco dying is the use of natural plants and garden litters to
dye and leave stenciled prints behind on the fabric and paper. I’ve been experimenting
with different plants, simmering or steaming in a pot of water, with or without a
mordant. So far there’s been some interesting patterns and nice rust color from
the steel wool strands we added in. The trial and error continues, and THEN…
what will these dyed, printed images become next.
