Up to this point in my ceramic journey, my focus has been to be able to just sit down at the wheel and THROW a body of clay into “something”. I feel I have accomplished that goal. My symboitic relationship with the clay thus far has been the clay allowing me to practice my basic skills, and I allow the clay to “become” whatever form it chooses. So the next challenge for me is to throw the same FORM consistently, taking control of the clay/me relationship. Today I spent my studio time throwing for a simple mug/cup form, some 1 lb. small, others 2 lbs and larger, and a couple offered to the recycled clay bin. Practice, practice, practice.
