Stretching my own watercolor skills, I worked with a few new techniques to
further advance the finished look of my paintings. For this Hibiscus I painted in sections,
using wet on wet to start, and then adding layers of color as each section dried.
I masked the tiny dots of yellow pollen and the stamen so I wouldn’t
have to try to paint around them later. And to get the vein lines, I reactivated
the color with more water and used a water dropper to move the pigment
and create the sharp lines. Each technique added something new and enhanced
the end result.
