Earlier this year I was approached by a gentleman looking for an Illustrator for a children’s book he had written. It’s a cute story of two young sisters and their imaginary adventures in their backyard pool. I just finished the 17 colored pencil illustrations and sent them back to the author. The whole package is being sent to the publisher and I can’t wait to see the first copy off the press.
This was a new challenge for me. Drawing characters and scenes that flow and have continuity over many, many pages is not my typical style pf working. And then it’s always a little rough trying to match the image in someone else’s head, as in what the author thought they should look like. But we learned a lot by trial and error, and with one book success under my belt I’m ready to take on the next draft in this series of 3 stories.
