Acylic Techniques

Because of the viscosity of the paint, these two simple techniques lend themselves

perfectly to acrylic painting.  Acrylic paint is pigment mixed with acrylic polymer

emulsion. This keeps the colors from bleeding into each other, so creating

a “hard edge”, or clean line between shapes is quite easy… with a steady hand.

The paint is also water soluble for the time before it dries, and allows for the

second technique, a “solft edge” or blending the colors to lose that hard

line and have a softer transition between colors. Each technique has its purpose,

from geometric style works, or a more painterly style.
